Paryushan, an eight-day sacred Jain festival focused on forgiveness, has evolved into a widely embraced ritual for memory cleansing and emotional healing. Celebrated by millions, it offers profound spiritual growth and a chance to reflect on life’s emotional burdens.
Every year, Jains in India and around the world celebrate Paryushan Mahaparva, a festival of immense spiritual significance. It is a time of reflection, forgiveness, and inner purification. Through Paryushan, individuals have the opportunity to release the guilt, grudges, and negativity that often weigh them down. This unique celebration helps participants let go of deep-seated emotional pain and promotes personal growth.
Paryushan Mahaparva 2024 offered an immersive spiritual journey, featuring enlightening discourses on emotional healing by Param Gurudev Shree Namramuni Maharaj Saheb. There were meditation programs, inspirational performances on topics such as parenting, emotional healing in cancer recovery, the power of forgiveness, devotional evenings with renowned artists, interactive talk shows, and the much-anticipated Alochana, or confession ritual, on the final day of Samvatsari. The event was participated by thousands of devotees at Paramdham Sadhana Sankul, and people from across the world joined in through livestream.
Paryushan is centred around spiritual practices such as non-violence, confession, and forgiveness. Many participants fast during the festival, purifying their mind, body, and soul. According to Jain philosophy, karma plays a vital role in shaping our lives. The belief that our experiences are influenced by karma is deeply ingrained in Jain teachings. This year’s Paryushan also featured a groundbreaking exhibition that brings the Jain theory of karma to life.
The Look N Learn Science of Karma Exhibition was launched during Paryushan at Paramdham, a one-of-a-kind showcase that blends modern technology with ancient spirituality. Through cutting-edge tools like artificial intelligence, projection mapping, and interactive science exhibits, alongside art installations by 150 Indian artists, the exhibition explores the impact of different types of karma on our lives. It also offers insights into transforming karma to change one’s destiny, covering themes such as mindful eating, cruelty-free beauty, emotional management, and personal development.
